Natural, Organic, Homemade Weed Killer: It CAN be done!

Weed Killers: Natural Products are also better for the environment: With the onset of the green movement, people are not only concerned about the cost of their household products and weed killers, but also the effect that those products will have on our fragile environment. As a result, consumers are more apt to try making products at home. Doing this affords customers the opportunity to know exactly what is going into their products and what environmental effect they will have.
Homemade weed killer is just as effective as Roundup: Probably the biggest reason why people hesitate to make their own household products and weed killers is that they don’t think their products will be as effective. In the case of weed killers specifically, they may believe trying their own recipe will only kill all their grass and they will be left with a bigger problem than when they started. While some people have experienced mishaps, the majority of people making household products are seeing great success. Most purchased weed killers, including even the most popular and expensive ones, such as Round Up are really just a little bit of active chemicals mixed with a lot of water. When you are in control of the water content, you are in control of the effectiveness of your products.
Organic Weed Killers you can really use: Aside from getting down on your hands and knees to weed your garden and lawn yourself, there are several recipes you can make with products you probably already have in your household. One great homemade weed killer is simply a mixture of 10% vinegar, 1 ounce of orange oil, and 1 teaspoon of liquid soap. Mix it together in a clean spray bottle and apply to unwanted plants. Sugar is also a great weed killer, and can be sprinkled on weeds. Sugar will jumpstart a wave of microbial action that will overload the unwanted plant and it will rot and die. Stubborn crab grass can be controlled by powdered cinnamon bark. All of these ingredients are probably either already in your cabinet or they can easily be purchased at the grocery store. They are also all organic and are not as potentially lethal to yourself, your children and your pets as chemical weed killers can be.
