What is testosterone? Testosterone is a hormone produced by the testes. It is responsible for the development of male characteristics such as deep voice, hairy chest, and facial hair. It primarily stimulates the male sex drive. It is found in women too, but in smaller amounts. So why use testosterone cream? As if Viagra wasn’t enough, drug companies are pushing consumers to buy testosterone cream. Why? Well, there seems to be a pill or a cream for every malady these days, including low male sex drive, or impotence. If a man has low sex drive, it is advantageous to drug companies to classify this malady as a disease because that is the only way they can push for it to be sold by prescription, thereby getting thousands of dollars for it. The cream is supposed to work like this: The man rubs some testosterone cream once every 24 hours to different areas of his body. He can put it on his upper arms, thighs, or stomach. I’m not sure about his private area, but applying the cream is supposed to make him have an erection. With a woman, testosterone cream is supposed to awaken her libido. Unfortunately, research has show that there are more negative side effects using testosterone cream than positive effects.

Testosterone cream has been known to have serious side effects but not in all people. The first obvious side effect of testosterone cream is irritation to the area applied. That’s not so bad. However, there are other side effects such as high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, prostate complications (cancer), headaches, and gastrointestinal problems. These side effects are serious and if left untreated, can become deadly. Also, men who have a history of prostate cancer or prostate issues cannot use testosterone cream.

You have to remember, the drug industry is a business and they have to make money.
