The Rise of Technology and The Impact of Work Related Stress

Stress Related Work
The advancement of technology has made our lives easier in some ways. But in other ways, it has increased stress in our lives. For instance, with the advent of the internet, it has become extremely easy to purchase items with the click of a button. At the same time, it has become increasingly easier to commit identity theft! Also, pedophiles can easily get hold of your children. If these two things aren’t stressful, then I don’t know what is. But we can’t just blame technology for the rise of stress in our lives. Some jobs are inherently more stressful than others. Being a police officer is extremely stressful. Police officers don’t get to let their guard down in terms of their emotions. They most always keep a stoic face in the public as it can cloud their judgment. Also, they never know if they are going to come home from their shift. When they leave from home and kiss their wives (or husbands) good bye, they don’t know if that will be the last time they will see them. Suicide is prevalent in the police department. So where do they get relief? What about firemen? Their job is terrifying. They don’t know if they are going to get burned to death when someone calls because the kitchen curtains caught on fire when trying to fry chicken on the stove.
The Impact of Work Related Stress
What is the impact of work related stress? Stress management is crucial, especially with jobs that are inherently stressful. Unfortunately, many police officers don’t communicate with their spouses about the stress of their jobs. Perhaps they don’t want to lay the burden on them. But then they end up carrying the burden alone and it affects their relationship. Many of them end up getting divorce because of the impact of work related stress.
How Has Technology Contributed to Stress
Although most jobs that involve physically dangerous activities have a fantastic health compensation package such as free mental health visits, it still is not enough. We must take matters into our own hands by taking back our power. It’s no longer alright to blame technology for our levels of stress. Worry is the cause of stress. Although there are many suggestions given in this article to relieve stress, there is one that trumps them all prayer and belief in a power greater than yourself. I know, it sounds corny and too spiritual, but the truth of the matter is, if you look at a mountain or the stars, you know that man didn’t make those things. Something bigger than man made the oceans, the stars, the moon, and the seas. Also, the way the constellations move and the way the earth rotates on its axis perfectly is not something man could ever explain or control. So something bigger is at work. Trust that something and believe that all is well. If you act as if and put 100% trust in that something that made the Universe, your stress levels will drop dramatically.
